A Letter To Social Conservatives

A Letter To Social Conservatives

September 24, 2007

Dear Social Conservative,

It is beyond obvious that social conservatives are very concerned about prospects in the 2008 Presidential election. While there are several candidates that have decent pro life and pro family records, equally clear is that many of these candidates are lacking in fiscal matters, have made seriously deficient statements in the past in regard to enforcing our immigration laws or have been members of a U.S. Congress that disappointed many conservatives in regard to the growth of government or addressing our serious challenges.

These factors may explain why numerous polls show that Republicans in general and conservatives in particular, have yet to find their candidate for President in 2008. Given the problems in Iraq and the corruption and failures of the Congress under Republican control, the Republican Party is considered now to be in a weakened state in regard to the forthcoming elections.

Serious action is necessary. Conservative leaders, such as you, need to consider carefully whom to support and the prospect that no matter who is nominated, we face a clear uphill battle ahead of us.

I am here to tell you that while this situation is difficult, it is definitely not hopeless. What we need to do is look beyond the media, look beyond the pundits and conventional wisdom and reach out to a seeming unconventional candidate; one who can capture not only the imagination of the American electorate but also the White House in 2008.

I am asking you to consider supporting my candidacy for President based upon the following:

  • I am a successful businessman with a long record of civic, charitable, religious and political involvement (I have been a religious education teacher, lector at my church, President of my parochial school board and numerous boards and civic involvement).
  • I am a solid fiscal and social conservative with a long record of activism - an original member of the Club for Growth (Jack Kemp, Steve Forbes, Larry Kudlow, et.al), a longtime pro life and pro family activist (a member of and supporter of the Knights of Columbus, Illinois Family Institute, Pro Life Action League).
  • I grew up in humble circumstances, working my way through school, starting small businesses, and achieving success by acquiring unprofitable companies and making them profitable again.
  • I am a CPA and investment specialist, who is able to address the deepening financial concerns of many Americans.
  • I am an effective public speaker with experience in media communications. For several years I hosted a talk radio show in Chicago and led conservatives in grassroots politics as the former President of the Cook County Republican Party - Chicago.
  • Despite a lack of national media coverage of my campaign, I have been able to build campaign organizations in 30 states and have extensive grassroots contacts in the early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, where I have garnered significant support in straw polls.

I fully realize that my candidacy is considered by many to be a long-shot, but given our current field of candidates, that shouldn't be a limitation, it should be an attraction. The American people are openly disdainful of their political leadership. They have put their trust in the career politicians and celebrities, but have been disappointed time and again. They feel let down and deceived by politicians they have worked and voted for, but while they still remain greatly disappointed, they are looking desperately for a leader to bring real results for our nation's families.

They are looking for competence, integrity, statesmanship - they are sickened by the chase for money and power - they are looking for someone to serve the country instead of themselves. This is the kind of self-sacrifice we have seen lacking in our political leaders of recent vintage but it can be ours again if we demand it.

I am one of those who are disappointed in our leadership, which is why I have accepted this challenge. Many Americans share those same concerns. They are looking for leadership; consistent, honest leadership that will bring common sense, solid values and empathy for the common man to the Presidency.

That is why I am running for President; that is why I am asking for your support.

If you have any questions for me, I hope you will call me at 1-877-234-3800, or e-mail me directly at: jcox998@aol.com. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

John H. Cox
