Iowa--Republican presidential candidate, John Cox is one of the top 5 Republican presidential candidates being considered by Iowa's Republican county chairmen, according to a recent survey conducted by IowaPolitics.com

The Wall Street Journal wrote John Cox may very well be the candidate that comes from behind.

The website contacted all of the Iowa Republican county chairmen during the months of February and March. Forty-two of the county chairs responded, with only six saying they were already committed to a candidate; three for Gov. Mitt Romney and three for Illinois businessman John Cox. Of the remaining county chairs that were uncommitted, 26% of the county chairs said they would consider supporting John Cox for President.

According to the survey* posted on the website www.IowaPolitics.com on March 23rd, these are the presidential candidates that Iowa Republican county chairmen said they would consider supporting for President:

Mitt Romney — 55%

Mike Huckabee — 45%

Rudy Giuliani — 39%

Newt Gingrich — 35%

John Cox — 26%

Tom Tancredo — 23%

John McCain — 19%

Sam Brownback — 19%

Tommy Thompson — 13%

Duncan Hunter — 10%

Ron Paul — 6%

George Pataki — 3%

Jim Gilmore — 3%

Chuck Hagel — 0%

On news of the results, John Cox said, "Frankly, I'm not surprised that I am ahead of Tom Tancredo, John McCain, Sam Brownback, Tommy Thompson, Duncan Hunter and others. Many of the Iowa Republican county chairmen are looking for a true conservative who is not an insider to Washington politics, and they believe that I am a real contender in this race."

In addition, John Cox stated, "For the past several months, I have been meeting with Iowa voters and discussing the issues that are most important to them. Conservative Republicans are not satisfied with the current front-runner Republicans. What they are finding is that I am the only Conservative Republican presidential candidate that understands and shares their views."

John Cox—a former president of the Cook County Republican Party in Chicago and a former Republican U.S. Senate candidate—is using his pro-business, pro-family, and Reagan-style conservative leadership to gain the interest and support of Iowa Republicans.
