GOP Gears Up for State Convention

Republicans from across Iowa are meeting this weekend in Des Moines for the 2006 state convention. The Republican party starts things out on Friday with a party picnic, and New York Governor George Pataki will be there.

On Saturday, several events take place. Candidates will have breakfast with Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in the morning. Virginia Senator George Allen will be at a luncheon Saturday, and the weekend's events wrap up with a reception for 2008 Republican presidential hopeful John Cox.
