Since the Jose Padilla conviction, there have been questions as to whether the conviction was a stepping stone toward exposing conspiracies to commit terrorism. GOP candidate, Conservative John Cox, doesn't think so. Here's his statement:

"The decision this week vindicates holding him, as well as the arduous pursuit of conspirators or anyone tied to a terrorist conspiracy," says Cox. "I have argued for a long time that if you want to find a needle in a haystack, you don't waste time and money inspecting every haystack. You go after the people who conspire to make and plant the needles."

Cox says that with all the billions we are spending on the TSA, it should really stand for "Thousands Standing Around." Instead, we could be training new CIA, FBI and NSA operatives to learn Farsi and Arabic in order to send them off around the world to infiltrate conspiracies."

"We need to interrupt their communications and financial networks everywhere in order to shut them down. Inspecting every truck, every single container or every 80 year-old grandma is not a smart use of time and money. There are a lot of people in a lot of places who are working together to produce terrorism on this scale. We should be going after those people and bring an end to the stagnate searches in airports that are producing no results. We should look to understand the terrorists' modus operandi, what it takes to maintain them, and bring them down."
