John Cox Initiates "Build America" Initiative

Chicago, IL - July 19, 2006 - Businessman and 2008 U.S. Presidential candidate, John Cox announced today that he is kicking-off a program designed to build a stronger America through promoting Republican principles, candidates, and local party organizations. Build America is designed to function as a nationwide effort to help build county Republican organizations and assist local candidates for legislature and constitutional offices. Cox will launch his initiative in three early primary states - "Build Iowa," Build New Hampshire," and "Build South Carolina."

Cox commented, "Through this initiative we hope to build a strong grassroots network that supports Republican candidates who in turn represent Republican principles. I have found that local level candidates sometimes have difficulty getting the money and attention they deserve to be successful, especially in years where there are statewide elections that generate greater media attention. Through this Build America initiative, I plan to personally make contributions to these campaigns, speak at rallies for these candidates, and help them raise additional funds. People want an honest, effective and limited government - our campaign is dedicated to these principles"

"It is important to note, that our effort does not involve throwing large amounts of cash at these three states through a PAC to buy some support later down the line. Our initiative is an all-encompassing effort to truly build a stronger America through the promotion of these principles, candidates, and local parties. As the President of the Cook County Republican Organization, I led an effort there to build grassroots efforts - local grassroots is where a stronger effort is needed. People need to see politics as a way to address the issues that are close to them, that affect their lives. Local leaders are closer to those issues and their neighbors feelings about them. That is why we are embarking on this initiative. Our work and sweat, not just our money, will go into spreading the principles of Ronald Reagan to every town, every village, every city, county, and state," continued Cox.

Candidate for Polk County (Iowa) Supervisor, Wes Enos, said, "I think John Cox's Build America Initiative is absolutely vital for the Republican Party to maintain control of Congress and the White House by building a local framework in the 2006 elections."

Build America steps off with Build Iowa on July 21, 2006 at the Adventureland Inn, Altoona, Iowa at 7:00pm. Additional engagements are scheduled in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina from July through November. Keith Hunter, a member of the board of the Iowa Christian Alliance said, "John Cox's Build America Initiative is the most important movement in the last 20 years for social conservatives."

John Cox is a businessman and political leader from Chicago who has filed as the only Republican candidate seeking the nomination in 2008. He has traveled extensively in the early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina to make his background and ideas better known.
