Lesser-Known Republican Presidential Candidate Takes on the "Big Names"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 5, 2007 - Republican presidential candidate, John Cox, defeated two former governors and tied a current congressman in Thursday night's Republican straw poll in Spartanburg County, SC. John Cox - a former president of the Cook County Republican Party in Chicago and a former Republican U.S. Senate candidate - is using his pro-business, pro-family, and Reagan-style conservative leadership to take on the big names in the Republican presidential primary.

The results of the straw poll show that Republicans are not unified behind one individual, and they are willing to consider a lesser-known candidate who is a consistent Conservative.

"For the past several months, I have been meeting with South Carolina voters and discussing the issues that are most important to them. Conservative Republicans are not satisfied with the current front-runner Republicans. What they are finding is that I am the only real Conservative Republican presidential candidate that understands and shares their views."

John's ideals and principles resonate in South Carolina and other states. Although the other candidates claim to be conservative, John is the only candidate that is consistent on important issues including:

  • Taxes - Eliminate the IRS and implement the Fair Tax (Congress HR25, S25)

  • Immigration - Defend our borders and enforce our laws. No amnesty or "guest workers." Punish businesses that hire illegal labor

  • Abortion - Life begins at conception; pro-life without any exceptions

  • 2nd Amendment - John is a lifetime member of the NRA

  • Family - Against "gay marriage" and "civil unions"

"It is clear that the other presidential candidates do not consistently agree with me on these issues. I have held these values my entire life and I have never changed my views to cater to certain groups or the public."
