Top towns to visit near London

There are many nice towns that could be visited near London from your apartment in London on one day trips and short excursions. Among the nicest ones are the town of Brighton, which is less than one hour away from London using the train www.nationalrail.co.uk. The town has a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere and has reutation of being trendy and tolerant and to offer many amazing sites. Not far away are also the university towns of Cambridge and Oxford, which are very easy to reach going through the valley of Thames river itself. A good tip to be given is to enjoy and make photos of the area between the towns of Oxford and Reading, which are some of the loveliest countryside views that could be seen in England. Both of these towns are beautiful and interesting.

Other great places to visit near London are the town of Bristol, which is very beautiful, as well as the towns of Blackheath / Greenwich. The Greenwich Park is definitely nice and the markets around it are excellent. For those who want to go deep into the countryside hills a good recommendation is to visit the Breacon Beacons, while those who prefer the coastline should spend some time along the traditional English villages near Kenthttp://www.visitkent.co.uk Another great one day trip from London is the town of Portsmouth, which will appeal to those who love naval history. A good point is that there is a direct train that connects Waterloo area to the Harbour at Portsmouth. There one could see the ship Mary Rose built by Henry VIII, which sank close to the shore, and the ships HMS Victory and HMS Warrior. Other great places near London that deserve the attention include the Arundel Castle, which is an ancient castle placed on a hill in West Sussex and looking towards the Arun River. Built during the 11th century, the castle was family home of the Dukes of Norfolk for more than 850 years. The place resembles the Royal Castle Windsor and was among the first country houses in England to come with electric light, central heating and lifts. Interesting to be seen here are the furniture, the clocks, the tapestry and the paintings of Van Dyck, Mytens and Reynolds. The Arundel Castle is located between the towns of Brighton and Chichester. Another great place is the Bodiam Castle, built in year 1385 and this castle is among the most celebrated ones in England thanks to its interesting design, the drum towers and the lovely setting. That castle is placed near the town of Robertsbridge in East Sussex. Another great destination near London city is Canterbury, which is placed where the main route from Kent meets Stour River. The place impresses with its Norman Cathedral, which is quite high. The place is great to be explored by walking and there is plenty to be seen along the ancient streets of the city.
